Professional liability can be limited in a number of ways, two of the most useful methods are by agreement (under contract) and through membership of a professional standards scheme. Limiting your liability under contract can involve agreeing monetary limits on liability or the inclusion of indemnities or other clauses whereby the other party to the contract agree to waive some of their rights or agree to indemnify you. Membership of a professional standards scheme allows you in certain circumstances to limit your liability to a specific monetary amount, further information on professional standards schemes can be found at the Professional Standards Council website.
